Ramadan Karim

July 20, 2012

Today is the first day of Ramadan. I have nothing but respect for the Muslims and the challenges that they are going to be facing this month. No drinking, eating, smoking or having bad thoughts during daylight hours. It is 45 degrees and the days are long. It is amazing that people can have so much dedication to their God and religion. I was in Luxor for Ramadan last year and I will be very interested to see how that compares to Ramadan in touristic Sharm.

To mark the day here are some pictures of Al Mustafa Mosque in Sharm. I did not even know it existed until I went on an organised excursion there. I think it is beautiful. Thanks to low pollution levels it is much cleaner looking than the mosques I visited in Cairo. It is a very impressive sight which sadly very few tourists ever get to see.

Happy Ramadan to my Egyptian Brothers.
